It's good to have passions. I think a major benefit of a subscription model would be persistence and community building. A collection of people currently paying for an ongoing experience is a more potent thing than unidentified masses who obtained a disc somehow sometime. Regular updates become more than gameplay fixes/enhancements they become "touch points" for Fifa to regularly interact with its community.
